Air Quality Testing in Toronto
How do I know if the air quality in my home or office is safe to breathe and not harmful to my health? If you live or work in the Toronto or Greater Toronto Area (GTA) have a qualified indoor air consultant like mri-mold.ca test the air your breathing.
There are many pollutants floating in the air we breathe some of which have no odour and is invisible to the naked eye. It is of particular importance to consider the air quality inside your home or office. These environments usually have poor ventilation which means that the concentration of any pollutants is likely to be much higher inside than they are outside.
High concentration of pollutants such as mold, pet dander, and volatile organic compounds (ie. formaldehyde or paint) can be extremely hazardous to your health, more so for people with low/weak immune systems. It is not unusual for people to believe they are suffering from a cold or allergies and only until the symptoms get worse do we consider there may be something wrong with the air we breathe every day.
Under normal circumstances, in a well ventilated, healthy environment, the air quality inside should be the same or better than the air quality outside. The only way to determine the quality of the air you are breathing is by having a certified professional perform an indoor air quality test.
How the test is performed
Our certified inspectors have specialized air sampling pumps that run 15 litres of air through a trap for 10 minutes at a time. The test requires a “control” sample which typically is done outdoors and an indoor sample for each of the areas of concern. The control is used to compare with the indoor sample. The samples are then taken to an accredited 3rd party laboratory for testing and evaluation. The results are packaged in a written report which is provided to the customer along with recommendations on next steps. Once you have had a chance to review the report a qualified member of the mold.ca team is available to discuss the findings with you and if requested, assist you with your decision making process.
