- Run a dehumidifier – the RH (relative humidity) should be set to 55% or lower, it is important to read the instructions of your dehumidifier to ensure that it is set to optimal conditions for your environment and how the unit is installed
- Be conscientious and address water leaks quickly
- Make sure all downspouts (exterior) and drains (interior and exterior) are free and clear of any obstructions so that water can flow freely away from the home
- If you have a sump pump, check it regularly to make sure it is in good working order and if it runs on a battery back-up, make sure the battery is working
